French Wash
Every once in a while, the image I have envisioned in my mind comes true on the final piece. That is the case for “On the Prowl.”
I would say that at some point during their creation, I really disliked what I was working on. Something just didn’t look right to me, and I couldn’t really explain what. It’s usually at this point that I stop working on a piece and start something new to clear my brain. The funny thing is, while working on this piece, I never had that feeling. I liked the way it looked from the initial marks of the drawing. Every time I worked on it, I kept getting closer and closer to that elusive image in my head. It was like magic!
Now is the time when you might think, okay, everything is going well, and you’re going to say you messed it up somehow. Nope. That didn’t happen. The stars were aligned, the angels were singing, and all was right with the world. Including the painting of this piece. Layer after layer of color went down and it just got, in my mind, better.
